The International Deaf Children's Society (IDCS) is the international wing of the
National Deaf Children's Society (NDCS), a UK registered charity founded in 1944. IDCS was launched in 2002 with the aim of improving the life chances of deaf children everywhere.
The World Health Organisation estimates that there are 123 million deaf people worldwide, two thirds of these live in the developing world where only ten per cent of deaf children receive any education at all. In order to meet the needs of some of these millions of unsupported deaf children, the IDCS will build on work done by the
NDCS, one of the best resourced and most experienced organisations working with parents of deaf children.
