IDCS aims to improve the life chances of deaf children everywhere and is the only international organisation of its kind.
100% of the money raised through donations goes on projects benefiting deaf children:
- Indian Deaf Children's Society
There are three million deaf children in India and 25,000 deaf babies born every year. The Indian Deaf Children's Society will work with partners to:
- Provide better educational opportunities for deaf children
- encourage the development of sign language
- empower young deaf people who are out of work and have no opportunities
- establish a parent network to lobby for the rights of their deaf children.

- Small Grants Programme (SGP)

This is a global programme awarding grants of up to £10,000. The SGP will allow new projects to start which will continue long after the funds have finished. The funded projects will work to improve services and empower deaf children through:
- training teachers
- forming parent networks
- improving deaf children's access to language
To see how your donation could help deaf children, link to the SGP section and read about the first funded projects.
- Research for new country programmes
IDCS chose to develop its first in-country programme in India after extensive research and feasibilty work.
With your help, IDCS can fund new research and start to develop its next in-country programme.
This website was launched on 15 April 2004 and aims to provide a global forum for deaf children, deaf young people, their families and professionals. www.idcs.info is an important part of IDCS’s vision to become the first point of contact for anyone working with deaf children anywhere in the world, to encourage the exchange of information and ideas.
Through your donation we can continue to develop the content of this website and look at new ways of bringing together a global, online community.
